Frequently Asked Questions
A travel advisor is your one-stop shop for every aspect of your travel needs. We understand that there are many travel advisors to choose from, and we are thrilled that you are considering us. Please refer to our About page to get a better understanding of who we are and what sets us apart.
1. What does a Travel Advisor do?
Unlike booking with a tour company, I will make sure this trip is customized to your unique interests and preferences. I will use my personal and professional experience and contacts to ensure that you are having the best experience. You won't be joining a bus tour to go to the same old tourist spots (unless that's what you're in to), you will head to a cool local dive to grab the area's best hidden foods; take a private boat ride to a sunken ship and swim with the sea life that has made its home there; or hike to an awesome brewery with a view of the entire city - whatever you are in to, we will craft a trip that is perfect for you.
The average person spends 10-30+ hours travel planning. I know that I often spent even more than that planning my own trips. Now, I have access to booking sites and deals that I only DREAMED of when I was planning my own travel. My relationships with supplier partners also allow for best value, amenities and direct assistance. I know who to trust and which products to offer. I will assist you with all components of your trip in one place, and give you the best deal that is out there, saving you countless hours of online research and price comparison.
I have traveled a lot. Like a lot a lot. I have likely been to wherever you want to go, and have personal recommendations about the best (and worst!) things to do. And if I haven't been somewhere? I have the direct phone numbers for local experts around the globe - people who will help me make sure your trip is perfect.
Vacation is a time to relax and enjoy yourself. I will monitor your bookings and be ready to assist if an issue should arise. I will ensure you have the proper documentation you need, advise you of any special travel information, and be there to answer any questions you may have. You get to just enjoy the adventure.

2. How do I start planning a trip?
Fill out our Free Consultation Request to help us get to know your travel needs. We will then schedule a consultation phone call to learn more about you, answer any questions you may have, and start brainstorming.
3. Can you help me book flights?
Yes, we are authorized to ticket flights, and book everything from leisure travel to private jets and charters.
4. Do you offer travel insurance?
Yes, we work in collaboration with several insurance providers to protect you and enhance your travel experience. Unless specifically noted, travel insurance is not included in the cost of your itinerary. Please inquire about travel insurance.
5. What am I going to pay for this?
I try to make my fees as transparent as possible, and am happy to answer any questions you may have about them. When you book travel through a travel advisor, you can generally expect to pay 3 types of fees (some travel advisors get really complicated and charge many more than that, but let's ignore them for now):
Our Planning Fee covers the time and resources that we put in to making your your custom trip amazing - we will be the ones on hold with the tiny restaurant in Colombia, haggling with the hotel in Tanzania over room upgrades, and emailing back and forth with the tour guide in Thailand about your dietary restrictions, you don't have to worry about any of that. This fee is what allows us to go above and beyond for you, making sure that you can forget about the logistics, and have an unforgettable adventure.
Booking fees are for when you just need help with that one thing, rather than complete trip planning. They cover one-off air tickets or other transportation . You will get to approve each option before we charge anything.
You can view our fees on our Trip Planning Page.
Exchanges and Cancellations will be conducted when possible. Additional fees may apply. Winkaffe Global Travel acts solely as a booking agent for disclosed cruise lines, hotels, airlines, air charters, bus companies, ground transportation, boat purveyors or owners, and other independent contractors providing accommodations, transportation, and/or other services and is not the source or provider of the travel services. For each of these supplier companies, payments and/or cancellations are specified prior to departure according to each supplier’s terms and conditions. We can help you sort this out during the planning phase.
